Bio
Hello! I'm Reem. I am a humanities tutor currently training to be an Art Psychotherapist. I like to think I’m nice to be around, and I believe I owe that to being quickly impassioned by the interests of others- I want to know more about what interests you, and why. I think anything in what we learn in academia can find a reflection in the world around us, and part of my tutoring style includes helping you see the subjects of your study as living things in their own right- something with importance to you and your world, even outside of exams. In my experience we tend to engage more deeply with (and produce better results from) our learning when it means something real to us.
I graduated with a First Class degree in History from Oxford, where I specialised in the art of the 1960s.
Since 2015, I have tutored in the humanities, working from primary to undergraduate level. My practice is flexible and adaptable, and through attuning to the learning styles and specific circumstances of each of the students I've worked with, I have been able to support them to make great and meaningful strides in their education.
As well as my tutoring history, my professional experience working in further education gave me fluency in supporting students with coursework, locating relevant and interesting learning resources, and supporting students with university applications.
The process of tutoring for me is not about teaching my way, but together working out your way of thinking, writing, and understanding. I would like to see my role as helping you recognise and nurture that scholarly perspective.
