What we offer
Rook St Tutors offers a kind of tutoring that accommodates each young person’s circumstances, goals, and way of learning.
**
Each of us comes with extensive academic specialisms and foundations in pastoral experience

At Rook St, we see tutoring as a collaboration between tutor and tutee to restore student’s confidence in their own innate abilities. Our design is about finding clear practises that make the work holistic in a noticeable way. The first of these practices are:
1-1 Tutoring
You choose your tutor
Rook St. tutors believe that students deserve priority throughout our process, and this begins with our initial consultations. Students will have the choice to meet with at least one or two members of our team to discuss their initial choice of tutor. We maintain that students should have the right to decide which tutor leads their tutorials, even after an initial decision has been made.
Teaching
Each student has goals and objectives that are personal to their education. Our tutoring style rewards tutees for engaging with their core learning-skills and developing faculties that are central to their agency as students and individuals. At Rook St., each student’s lived experience helps to shape tutorial sessions as much if not more than grades and school curricula.

Mentorship
Each student chooses a mentor who is different from their tutor. Our mentoring service provides an extra-special space to ensure that our teaching meets your needs. During mentoring sessions, students can discuss their wishes, interests, post-school or higher education plans with their mentor. Mentors and tutors can work together behind the scenes to ensure our tutoring better speaks to who our students are. We think that offering mentorship enhances the way we teach and guide students, offering a deeper kind of support beyond the usual academic constraints of your tutoring sessions. time and space devoted to the direction and longer-term of tutoring.

Worry box
Our worry box offers an exclusive, confidential, and nonjudgemental space for students to vent and voice their worries. Something like an agony aunt system, this exists as its own service that tutees can access at any time. Is the student upset from a hard day at school, do they feel concerned about exams or studies, or would they simply like a space to write about their creative aims and interests? Our worry box steward who will aim to respond in 1-2 days.
If they would like the anonymity, then our worry-box system also functions as a bypass for students to table any possible changes they’d like to make to their tutorial or mentorship arrangements.
Study skills and writing clinics
